sunny 25 °C

After 3 months on the road I thought it would be a good idea to let you all know what we are up to....So from now on we are gonna give it a try and let you weekly know what is going on around here...

At the moment we are in Arequipa, second largest city in Peru with lots of colonial heritage. A nice plaza with a fountain, palmtrees dotted around the square, lovely people, great food, cheap beer....

We just finished a 3 day trip in the Colca canyon. A bit touristy but lots of fun. The first day was mainly just getting there by bus. After finding our way in between the llamas and alpacas we got to a little pretty village called Chivay. Arrounded by steep mountains and terrases. Here we visited some hot springs before going to the local cultural party. An evening with food, drinks and dance performings. What we didn't know was that we were gonna be the 2 "stars" (most embarrassed) people of the evening. For some reason I had to be picked out to do some weird dance with one of the girls. After hitting here 3 times with a wip on the bum and being knocked to the ground I was "pissed on". Sounds strange, I know, movies later on might make it a bit more clarely.
Anita was the dance partner of a cute 5 year old girl for the entire evening and was picked out for another marathon dance.

Next morning off at 5 (who says travelling is relaxing) to see the condors from a beautiful view point. The colca canyon is deaper than the grand canyon but for some reason we thought it would be nice to walk down it. After a lot of sweating we made it down to a beautiful oasis where we would spend the night in a shaggy bungalow.

The walk after was amazing, through a few little villages and 1300 meters up to make it back to the bus. Yep, I think we are getting fit around here.

Tonight of to Cusco.....

(Soon some picks of the travels)
